Regional jails and counties served

Most jails are run by counties or cities, but there are also "regional" jails "created by two or more local governing bodies through cooperative agreements" (source).

For some research projects, it can be helpful to have a list of these regional facilities, so we prepared this list of 66 regional jails, 59 of which responded to the Census of Jails, 2019. Together, these regional jails serve 271 counties and other jurisdictions.
