Graph showing the number of youth confined in the United States by offense and whether or not they are incarcerated with adults using the most recent data available in March 2025. There were a total of 34,200 confined youth in the United States. The juvenile justice system held 27,600; the adult prison and jail systems held 2,500; and the immigration system held 4,100.
